Key Objectives: Establish Infrastructure, Build Community Momentum, Renovate the Barn, and Launch First Village Home

  • 2025 Q1-Q2:

    • Conduct environmental assessments (soil health, water availability, invasive species impact).

    • Finalize governance structure and secure necessary permits.

    • Launch a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for the barn renovation and first Village home, sharing Dee Dee’s vision through storytelling, visuals, and social media.

    • Apply for grants (USDA, arts, and Indigenous environmental funds) to support agroforestry and infrastructure projects.

  • 2025 Q3-Q4:

    • Begin renovation of the barn into a multi-functional community space, including a tool library, Liberation Library, and maker space for pottery and natural building.

    • Start construction of the first Village home using regenerative design principles to demonstrate sustainable housing.

    • Build the community cob oven to act as the first gathering hub for work parties and celebrations.

    • Kick off the agroforestry project in partnership with the Northeast Agroforestry Alliance, focusing on removing invasive species and planting native, edible, and medicinal plants.

    • Host community engagement events to celebrate milestones, showcase progress, and maintain momentum for crowdfunding.

  • 2026 Q1-Q2:

    • Complete the barn renovation and open the community space for seasonal celebrations, public workshops, and rentals.

    • Finalize construction of the first Village home and welcome the first resident or WWOOFing participant.

    • Host the first natural building workshop to train volunteers and raise additional funds.

    • Expand agroforestry efforts, planting more native species and developing early pathways for guided tours.

    • Open the community space for ongoing events such as educational workshops, cultural gatherings, and maker space memberships.

    • Begin revenue generation through memberships (tool library, maker space), workshop fees, and barn rentals.

    • Host volunteer days to prepare for upcoming agricultural projects and continue promoting the Village vision.

Phase 2: Expanding Agricultural and Community Projects (2027-2028)

Key Objectives: Scale Food Sovereignty and Agricultural Projects, Build Leased Farmland Program

  • 2027 Q1-Q2:

    • Develop the Haudenosaunee Food Sovereignty Farm, planting white corn and traditional tobacco.

    • Build food processing facilities for corn and deer processing.

    • Partner with Native American Community Services of Buffalo to launch Food Sovereignty Boxes for distribution.

  • 2027 Q3-Q4:

    • Launch the leased farmland program in partnership with Providence Farm Collective.

    • Construct shared infrastructure for tenant farmers: irrigation, wash/pack station, and cold storage.

    • Secure initial lease agreements with refugee and migrant farmers.

  • 2028 Q1-Q2:

    • Expand agroforestry efforts with additional plantings and educational programs.

    • Begin offering guided tours and agroforestry workshops to generate revenue.

  • 2028 Q3-Q4:

    • Host larger community events, such as seasonal festivals and cultural workshops, to enhance engagement and visibility.

    • Market the renovated barn for additional rentals (e.g., weddings, retreats, conferences).

Phase 3: Building the Village (2029-2030)

Key Objectives: Develop Additional Village Homes, Enhance Community Resilience

  • 2029 Q1-Q2:

    • Construct additional Village homes using sustainable materials and community input for customization.

    • Install shared infrastructure for the Village (solar panels, wind turbines, geothermal systems).

  • 2029 Q3-Q4:

    • Open more housing units for permanent residents and WWOOFing participants.

    • Develop pathways and communal spaces to enhance connectivity between homes.

  • 2030 Q1-Q2:

    • Complete the 4-unit transitional refuge housing for individuals in need.

    • Establish systems for cooperative management, including monthly fees to fund maintenance and improvements.

  • 2030 Q3-Q4:

    • Host a grand opening celebration for the fully realized Village, inviting community members, partners, and funders.

    • Continue expanding educational programs and revenue-generating activities across all zones.

Ongoing Activities (2025-2030)

  • Crowdfunding and Grants: Continuously seek funding opportunities through storytelling campaigns, grant applications, and partnerships.
